this is a short story that acts as a webpage. a fake webpage within a webpage. it tells the story of a couple vacationing in the michigan countryside and probably takes place between 2006 and 2011. a sort of millennial-spirited yearning for the boon years of the dot com era. the utopian visions of geocities filtered through a tumblr feed.

this was originally written in like 2012. i submitted it to a handful of literary rags and it wasn't accepted. but i know why. at the time, it was submitted with an odd, archaically-worded handwritten note to accompany the text, which also included handwritten edits and paratextual notes that were supposed to be included in the final publication. def a cringe container that i've remedied with this long overdue revision, complete with a (possibly award-winning) soundtrack by terminal_chastity. but, alas, even this new version was rejected from an online publication recently. so it goes.
